100 Years Old

As many of you know, I am a big Eagles fan. Since I am an Eagles fan, I am not the biggest fan of Tom Brady. I recognize his talent and that he is the greatest of all time but that’s where it ends. Now I am also a believer in giving credit where credit is due and just recently Tom Brady helped inspire a long term goal for myself.

Around the time of the Superbowl, the talk was whether or not Tom Brady would retire at the end of the year. This year, we found out that Tom Brady had set a goal for himself to play until he was 45 years old. This would be a pretty impressive goal considering not many players play into their last 30’s let alone their 40’s. Even crazier is that there’s a good chance he will do it.

So it got me thinking. If Tom Brady can do it, why can’t I?

Play football in the NFL you ask? Well no but martial arts, that’s a different story. So, I started thinking, how old do I want to train until? 70, 80? Then it hit me, I want to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when I am 100 years old. On my 100th birthday, I want to step on the mats and train at least one round with everyone who comes to class that day. Why not, right? Why limit myself or set a goal that isn’t so big it’s scary? So there it is. That’s my longest of my long term goals and I’m putting it out there to the universe.

So set your goals. Set big goals, ones that scare you. Put them out there to the world and hold yourself accountable. Every one of you can help hold me accountable to my goal and by doing so, make me a better person for it. Put your big, scary goals out there and let us hold you accountable to them! Aim big.
